 The journey to basecamp will begin in  Kathmandu city,where you can buy your essential gears needed  for trekking.Our company, PlanHolidays, has already taken care of all the necessary documents required for the flight to Lukla. We need to take an early morning flight from kathmandu to ensure a safe and smooth trip because of strong winds during the day time.This scenic flight to Lukla treats you to breathtaking views of lush green valleys and rolling hills, with the dramatic Himalayan peaks rising in the distance.After landing in Lukla, our journey to Namche Bazaar begins by following the traditional trade route of the Sherpa people.

Food and Accommodation Cost in Everest Base Camp Trek

Trekking to Everest Base Camp (EBC) involves costs for food and accommodation, which vary based on altitude and comfort level. Here is a simple breakdown:

Food cost in the Everest Base Camp Trek 

Lower elevations (Lukla to Namche Bazaar)

Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) cost approximately $7-$10 per meal. The menu includes Nepali and some international options. In a day, you will spend around $25-$30 in a day for food.

Higher elevations (above Namche Bazaar from Tengboche)

Meal prices increase to $10-$15 per meal as basic ingredients and food items become harder to transport. Dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, and vegetables) is a common and relatively economical choice. You will spend approximately $40-$45 per day on food during the Everest Base Camp trek.

Drinks cost in the Everest Base Camp Trek. 

Bottled water can cost $1-$3 per bottle, increasing at higher altitudes. Tea and coffee usually range from $1-$3 per cup. For beer and hard drinks, it costs $3-$5. Usually, we don’t suggest a hard drink at higher altitudes.

Accommodation cost in the Everest Base Camp Trek

Lower elevations (Lukla to Namche Bazaar)

Basic tea houses cost around $5-$10 per night for a bed in a shared room. Comfortable options with better facilities might range from $20-$30.

Higher elevations (above Namche Bazaar)

Gradually, price increases to $10-$15 for basic lodging due to the remoteness and transportation challenges. Some upgraded hotels can cost $50-$80 for rooms with attached bathrooms.

Permits cost for the Everest Base Camp Trek.

The Everest Base Camp trek requires a few permits, The Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit costs around NPR 3,000 (approximately $23) for foreigners and NPR 1,500 for SAARC nationals. You can obtain this in Kathmandu or at the park entrance in Monjo.

 

The Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit, which replaced the TIMS card for this region, costs NPR 2,000 (approximately $17 USD) for all nationalities for the initial four weeks, increasing thereafter. This permit is usually obtained in Lukla or Monjo.

 

Note: If you’re trekking via Jiri, you’ll also need the Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit, costing NPR 3,000 for foreigners and NPR 1,000 for SAARC citizens. Remember to carry passport photos and your passport for these permits.

Itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,593ft)

A warm welcome awaits you upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. One of our team members will be there to greet you and escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Once settled in, you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and refresh after your journey or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you might like to take a gentle stroll through the colorful and bustling Thamel market nearby. In the evening, we’ll gather for a relaxed briefing about the trek ahead. This is also a great time to ask any questions and pick up or rent any last-minute trekking gear. Enjoy a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02

Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek preparation

After a restful night, we’ll begin the day with a warm welcome and an exciting introduction to Kathmandu’s rich cultural heritage. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, you’ll explore some of the city’s most treasured landmarks, including the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, the peaceful Boudhanath Stupa, the hilltop Swayambhunath (affectionately known as the Monkey Temple), and the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square. Along the way, feel free to take in the sights, ask questions, and enjoy the atmosphere. Later, we’ll also take care of your trekking permits (TIMS and Sagarmatha National Park Entry), ensuring everything is ready for your adventure ahead. You’ll return to your hotel in the evening to relax and enjoy another comfortable night in Kathmandu.

Day 03

Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860m), Trek to Phakding (2,610m)

This morning, you’ll take a breathtaking 30–35 minute flight to Lukla , the gateway to the beautiful Khumbu region and the starting point of your trek. Upon arrival, you’ll meet the rest of your trekking team and begin your journey with a gentle walk along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. The trail leads through charming pine forests, crosses several iconic suspension bridges, and offers your first taste of the serene Himalayan landscape. Today’s trek is at a relatively low altitude and takes around three to four hours, gradually leading you to the peaceful village of Phakding. You’ll spend the night at a cozy teahouse, soaking in the tranquility of the mountains and preparing for the days ahead.

Day 04

Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,286ft)

Today’s trek takes about 5 to 6 hours, following the scenic Dudh Koshi River through forests and charming villages like Monjo, eventually entering Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge, a steady uphill climb brings you to the vibrant Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. If the weather is clear, you may even catch your first glimpse of Mount Everest. Settle in for the night at a cozy teahouse in Namche, surrounded by stunning mountain views and warm hospitality.

Day 05

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

To help your body adjust to the higher altitude and reduce the risk of altitude sickness, it’s important to spend a day acclimatizing. Today, we’ll stay in Namche Bazaar to let your body adapt gradually. You can take a scenic hike to the Everest View Hotel, where you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. There’s also time to explore the Sherpa Culture Museum or browse the vibrant local market. In the afternoon, we recommend taking it easy , resting and staying well-hydrated is key for a successful trek. You’ll spend another peaceful night at a teahouse in Namche bazaar. 

Day 06

Namche to Tengboche (3,867m / 12,690ft)

Today’s trail winds around the mountains with breathtaking Himalayan views before descending to the river at Phunki Tenga. A steady climb through beautiful rhododendron forests then brings you to Tengboche, home to the region’s largest monastery. If time allows, you may attend a peaceful prayer ceremony. Overnight at a cozy teahouse in Tengboche.

Day 07

Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360m / 14,300ft)

The day begins with a descent through forested trails to Debuche, followed by a crossing over the Imja River. You’ll then ascend past Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa villages with rich cultural heritage. As the landscape turns more alpine, the trail leads to Dingboche , a high-altitude village surrounded by striking stone-walled fields. The trek takes about 5–6 hours. Overnight at a local teahouse in Dingboche.

Day 08

Acclimatization in Dingboche – Hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,083m / 16,676ft)

To support your acclimatization, today’s hike up Nangkartshang Peak offers stunning views of Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Island Peak. The panoramic vistas from the summit are truly breathtaking. After taking in the views and snapping some photos, you’ll descend back to Dingboche to rest and allow your body to adjust to the higher altitude. This day is an important step in preparing for the higher altitudes ahead. Overnight at a teahouse in Dingboche.

Day 09

Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940m / 16,210ft)

The trek begins with a gentle ascent, passing through Dughla before a steeper climb to the Memorial Park, honoring climbers who have lost their lives attempting Everest. This moving site also offers stunning mountain views. The trail then flattens as you approach the Khumbu Glacier’s granite moraine, leading you to Lobuche. The trek takes about 5–6 hours. Overnight at a teahouse in Lobuche.

Day 10

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m), Return to Gorak Shep (5,164m)

Today is a truly unforgettable day. You’ll begin with a 3-hour trek across rocky glacial terrain to Gorak Shep, where you’ll rest and have lunch. From there, it’s a 2–3 hour trek to Everest Base Camp, the closest point to the summit that can be reached without climbing. While the summit itself isn’t visible, you’ll be surrounded by towering peaks and the impressive Khumbu Icefall. After soaking in the atmosphere at EBC, you’ll return to Gorak Shep for the night. Overnight at a teahouse.

Day 11

Gorak Shep to Kalapattar (5,545m), then Trek to Pheriche (4,371m)

We’ll begin the day with a hike to Kala Patthar to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Mount Everest, with stunning views of Nuptse and Changtse. After soaking in the panoramic beauty, you’ll return to Gorak Shep for breakfast before continuing your journey toward Pheriche. Today’s trek will take around 6 to 7 hours. Overnight at a teahouse.

Day 12

Pheriche to Dibuche (3,820m)

This is the only segment where you will be retracing your steps to the lower valley through Pangboche and Debuche. Both sides of the trail provide spectacular views of the amazing Ama Dablam and also pass through alpine meadows and juniper forests. The view also makes the descent a lot more relaxed. You will spend the night at a teahouse in Dibuche.

 

Day 13

Dibuche to Manjo (2,835m)

The trek continues through the descending region of Tengboche all the way down to Namche Bazaar. You may choose to grab some lunch or coffee if you wish. After Namche, the path turns steep and descends through some pine forests and over suspension bridges until reaching Manjo. This marks the last night in the Sagarmatha National Park area. You will spend the night at a teahouse.

 

Day 14

Manjo to Lukla (2,860m)

The last stage of the trek will take you around 5-6 hours alongside the Dudh Koshi River through suspension bridges and villages visited during the initial days. The trek is a lot easier now and the incredible journey makes the walk rather peaceful. After the return flight, celebrate the last achievement and spend the night at a teahouse.

Day 15

Lukla to Kathmandu Flight

In the early morning, enjoy the stunning views on your flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, a shuttle will take you to your hotel, where you’ll have the rest of the day to relax, shop for souvenirs, or explore more of Kathmandu. In the evening, a farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant will be arranged by the trekking agency. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 16

Departure from Kathmandu

Today marks the end of your unforgettable Everest Base Camp journey. A shuttle will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight home. As you depart, we hope you carry with you beautiful memories and the proud feeling of having completed one of the most iconic treks in the world.
