southwest to Yamdrok Lake via Kambala Pass (4794m),
the sacred water so called " Swan Lake ". After
picnic lunch at lake side, drive to Gyantse (280km),
if time permits, visit Kumbum & Pelku Chode
in Gyantse, continuely driving to Shigatse (100km),
capital of Tsang which is the second biggest city
in Tibet, rival to Lhasa (340km) |

Morning visit the monastic
city of the Pachen Lamas-Tashilunbo Monastery,
which was originally built in 1447, known as one
of the sic major monasteries of the Gelug Sect.
The highlight of the monastery is the statue of
Maitreya Buddha made of copper with 22.4 meters
high, which looks graceful and dignified in appearance.
It is considered to be the highest statue in the
world. Same day drive from Shigatse back to Lhasa
via northern road (300km). |

Briefing- The link Lhasa to Ningchi (2500m)
is a major section of the vital Tibet-Sichuan highway.
Nyingchi, is a principal town of Kongpo , a large district
of southwest Tibet . It is a staging post for a number
of sacred pilgrimages. At this eastern extremity of the
Himalayas , the mighty Tsangpo makes an abrupt turn onto
itself. The uncommon congruence of high mountains and
Tibet 's most powerful water course creates one of the
deepest gorges in the world. It is a superb area for
pilgrims and plant-hunters. With this package tour, you
can visit the sacred tree of Bon (the indigenous religion
in Tibet )-Kushuk Demdrug in Ningchi, as well as view
the great Mt. Namche Barwa from long distance. Meanwhile,
botanically, appreciate the exotic scene of lush rhododendron
along with famous Lulang forest-so called Tibet 's "Shangri-La" |

AM visit Kushuk Demdrug-the
sacred tree of Bon, a magnificent specimen (considered
a juniper by Tibetans) perhaps 2,000-2,500 years
old, locals believe it to be the Original Tree,
as old as the universe. Then drive to Sekyimla
Pass , view the great Mt. Namche Barwa (7,700m)
from long distance. Drive back to Lhasa , if road
and time permits, visit Basum Tso on the way. Also
called " Tsogo Lake ", a famous sacred lake of
the Red Sect. It is located in Shoka in Kongbo
Giamda County , to the east of Kongpo Giamda and
300km from Lhasa . With its colorful water- so
called Tibet 's small Switzerland , there is an
ancient temple of the Nyingma sect in the Tashi
island in the middle of the lake. People can go
there by a ferryboat (pay on your own). On the
15 th of fourth month in Tibetan calendar every
year is the festival of kora round the lake pilgrims
from Nyingchi and Kham come here to turn around.
The scenery around the lake id magnificent which
is well known as " Geneva of the east". Same day
