This was the first time I booked directly through the WEB , and I thought it's a little risky, especially when I had to send my money to Katmandu and I wend to Delhi .
An interaction programme was organized on June 28, 2005 with twenty Thai Tour Operators who came here for FAM tour to share their experiences during their stay in Nepal .
His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev inaugurated the Promote Nepal-2005 exhibition amid a special ceremony at the City Centre in Doha, Qatar, on June 14, 2005.
Annapurna Sanctuary is the most suitable
route for the trekkers who don’t have much experience.
You will achieve the maximum altitude of 4400m at Annapurna
Base Camp. The route offers excellent views of Annapurna
South, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhare, Poon Hill
and many others. Besides en route you will have the opportunity
to share your moments of life with friendly and hospitable
Gurung people. In spring you will love to see the rhododendron
forest in bloom which makes your day always inspiring.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu.
Meet at the airport and transfer to hotel.
Day 2
Kathmandu-Pokhara
Drive 5 hours/Flight 30 minutes to Pokhara. Overnight
hotel.
Day 3
Pokhara-Phedi and trek to Pothana.
(1990m)
After breakfast, we will drive by car or bus (depending
on group size) to Phedi ( 30 minutes) and commence
the trekking from. It is mostly steep uphill through
forests and fields to Dhampus Village on the top
of the ridge at 1750m. You will take your lunch
is a local restaurant. Dhampus offers great mountain
views that continue to improve as you ascend along
the ridge. Brahmnins, Chhetris and Guring ethnic
community inhabit the village. You will follow the
trail with paved stones through rhododendron forests
steep uphill to Pothana (1990m) where you will stay
overnight. You will have excellent views of Mt.
Machhapuchhre from here. 5 hours trek.
Day 4
Pothana-Landruk ( 1620m)
The stone-paved trail climbs through
forests to Deurali, atop a hill at 2150m, where
there are views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
From here the trail descends steeply through forests
with birds, ferns and orchids into a huge side canyons
of Modi River. You will descend past a couple of
guesthouses and restaurants at a Gurung Villages
and cross a stream at 1790m. Now the trail gently
climbs to bring you to Tolka Village at 1810m where
you will eat at your lunch and then descends a long
staircase to a suspension bridge across a stream
at 1720m. Now, you will have a gentle climb to the
ridge top followed by easy walk past streams, fields,
cross the suspension bridge an finally arrive at
Landruk –a Gurung Village for overnight stay.
6 hours trek.
Day 5
Landruk- Chomrong (2060m)
The trail to the sanctuary heads
north of the valley, passing along sides rice terraces
and then through forests. The trail leads to Nayapul
(1340m) and descends steeply to Samung, then crosses
a stream at 1430m. A stiff climb leads to Jhinu
Danda Village (1750) where you will have lunch break
and can make a side trip to Hot Spring. Further
steep up is Taglung, atop the treeless ridge at
2180m. The trail now is wider anbetter from here
to Chomrong, which is a Gurung village with a number
of guesthouse and hotels. There is tremendous view
of Annapurna South, which seems to tower above the
village and Mt. Fishtail across the valley. 6 hours
trekking.
Day 6
Chomrog- Dovan (2606m)
From the upper end of Chomromg Village, the trail
descends the long stone steps and cross the suspension
bridge over the Chomorong River from where you will
climb the mountain flank and pass the hamlet and
small inns till you reach the top of the ridge.
From here you will follow a rocky path through the
forested area until you come to Khurdi Ghar where
you will have your lunch. After lunch, descend the
stone steps and pass the check post and continue
through the bamboo forests to Bamboo Lodge from
where you will make a gentle ascent through the
forested area and cross at least three steams. Soon
you are in Dovan ( 2606m) where you will stay overnight.
7 hours walking.
Day 7
<DovanMachhapuchhre Base Camp (
3703m)
Now, the trail traverses high above the river but
thanks to thick stands of bamboo that blocks the
view of the rushing river and waterfall. After crossing
a landslide and another avalanche track, you will
reach Himalayan Hotel ( 2900m). Another an hour’s
walk, first on a rocky trail through forests, then
up a steep ravine, brings you to Hinko at 3160m.
Now the trail crosses a ravine and a major avalanche
track and climbs through large boulders to Deorali
( 3230m) where you will stop forlunch.From Deorali,
you will go to the river bank and follow the flank
until you come to Bagal ( 3300m) where most altitude
conscious trekkers halt the day. From Bagal, climb
from the riverbank to the terrace, follow the path
on the flank where big rhododendrons are growing
and you will come to the end of the ridge. After
crossing the stream, you will have a gentle climb
before you reach Macchapuchre Base Camp (3703m).
Total 7 hours walking.
Day 8
Machhapuhhre Base Camp- Annapurna
Base Camp(4130m)-Macchahpuchhre Base Camp You
will set our early morning today and follow the
ablation valley, which is a corridor-like hollow
developed between the glacier and the mountain
flank. Cross over about three low hills, go up
on the next hill, and you are in the Annapurna
Base Camp Sanctuary (4130m). In the front you
have amazingly standing Annapurna I (8091m) with
three lunps. At the right, there are the glittering
snow-clad peaks of Khangsar Kang (7485m) with
Himalayan ice flutings and Tarke Kang (7193m),
stretching further to Singuchuli (6501), one of
the interesting trekking peaks. Behind them, you
can see the triangular rock spire of Machhapuchhre
and snow-clad peak of Annapurna III (755m). The
sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything
impeding its panorama of 360 degrees. After having
tea or coffee here, you will retrace the way to
Machhapuchhre Base Camp for overnight. 4 hours
roundtrip walk.
Day 9
Macchhapuchhre Base Camp-Dovan
( 4 hours)
You will take easy walk down to Dovan.
Day 10
Dovan-Chomrong (2060m)
5 hours walking down.
Day 11
Chomrong- Tadapni ( 2540m)
You will continue to retrace till Khumnu above
the Khumnu Khola at 1780m and cross the river
on a suspension bridge and then walk about 20
m upstream to the site of the defunct old bridge.
You will follow a faint trail steeply uphill,
which becomes distinct as it switchbacks up through
wheat fields to the Melanche Village at 2050m.
Above the village the trail becomes less steep,
but still climbs steadily through rhododendron
forests to Tadapani at 2540m. You will stay the
overnight here. 6 hours walking
Day 12
Tadapani-Ghorepani (2853m)
From Tadapani, the trail descends through the
forested area until you cross the Chorom Khola
( River) from where you will climb the flank of
the river to Banthanti. Further on is Deorali
where you will have lunch break. From here, you
will have several small ascents and descents and
through rhododendron forests to arrive Ghorepani,
Ghorepani offers excellent views of Annapurna
and Dhaulagiri bathed in red in the evening. 5-6
hours walking.
Day 13
Ghorepani-Poonhill- Ulleri
( 2073m)
Early morning, you will climb one hour to reach
the famous Poon Hill, you will have a wider view,
from east to west, Machhapuchhre ( 6993m), Hiunchuli,
Annapurna South Peak and Annpurna I. After taking
some beautiful snaps of the snow peaks and the natural
scnery, you will descent to Ulleri via Ghorepani.
6 hours walking.
Day 14
Ulleri- Birethanti (1037m)-Pokhara
( 890m)
From Ulleri, Birethanti is about 3 hours steep
down trekking. The trail passes through Tirkhedhunga
village, Hile and requires crossing of some rivers
by suspensions bridges before you arrive at Birethanti
where you will take the lunch. From here, Pokhara
is an hour’s drive. 3 hours trekking and
1 hour drive.
Day 15
Drive or flight to Kathamdu
Day 16
Transfer to airport for departure
