Trekking from Simikot to Tibet provides an opportunity to learn about the Nepalese and Tibetan culture. There is no direct flight from Kathmandu to Simikot. You must first fly 1 1/2 hour to Nepalgunj on the southern border of Nepal, spend the night, and take an early- morning flight to Simikot. From Simikot, the trekking begins. After the circumambulation or kora of Kailash, you will drive via Mayum La, Saga and finally exit Tibet from Zhangmu. You will be picked up by coach at the friendship bridge and driven to Kathmandu.
A trip to Mount Kailash has always been regarded as a pilgimage although its a quite adventurous one. Whether you drive for seven days or walk for six days, it is still not possible to make a quick, easy visit to Mount Kailash or Manasarovar but once you are there, you will realize that its worth doing it. |
