Buddha Air recently said that it plans to start link Indian city of Lucknow from Pokhara from the first week of March. This will be the first international flight from Pokhara, the second most popular destination in the country after Kathmandu Valley.
The airline plans to use ATR-42 aircraft for the flight and has plans to operate 66-seater ATR-72 on the route later.
Birendra Bahadur Basnet, managing director of the airline, said the airline plans to operate daily flights to Lucknow if the venture becomes successful. He also said the airline was also studying the prospect of starting flights to New Delhi.
The revised Air Service Agreement (ASA) between Nepal and India on September 25 paved the way for Buddha Air to start India flights from Pokhara. Nepal can now operate flights to 21 different Indian cities.
