The Rice Bowl
The land of mountain crests lies between the kingdom of Bhutan, Nepal and the plateau of Tibet. This small stretch of rugged land may just be a speck on the world map but its size belies its' richness and diversity of culture, customs, heritage, flora and fauna.

Along with the Indian visa, foreigners are required to obtain an inner line permit for Sikkim, which is valid for 15 days with a further extension available in Gangtok. The permits are available at all Indian Missions, Consulates abroad and Sikkim Tourism Offices in Delhi, Calcutta, Siliguri and Gangtok.

In a great part of Sikkim, where the population is most dense, the climate is temperate with quite enjoyable temperatures neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter. During the year, the temperature reaches an average of approximately 18 degrees celsius.
