
Lumbini
This place, in the distance of about 300 Kms. Southwest of Kathmandu, at the Terai belt of the southern Nepal is the holy place where Siddhartha Gautam, the Shakya Prince ultimately the Lord Buddha, an enlightened, the apostle of peace and nonviolence was born in 623 BC. Soon after his birth, Buddha took seven steps in the four cardinal directions. A divine Lotus flower was bloomed wherever he set his foot. Listed as world heritage site by UNESCO, Lumbini is being developed with international support as the supreme Buddhist pilgrimage and a symbol of world peace. One can witness the spot marked by Ashokan pillar, Mayadevi temple, Pushakrini pond etc. in this land. The major attraction of this sacred zone is a holy garden, lapped in the area of 8sq. Km. which contains all the treasures of this historical area. Mayadevi temple enchants not only to the devotees but also to the archeologists eager to know the past history and culture.
Daman of Makawanpur district, is located 75Km to the southwest of Kathmandu valley on Tribhuvan Highway (Kathmandu-Birgunj). It is situated at the elevation of 2400m from the sea level. Gorkha
It is the ancestral home of the kings of the passed Shaha dynasty and world well known valiant Gurkha soldiers. It is 131Km far from Kathmandu with an elevation of 1135m from sea level. This historical place is located only in an 18Km up of a paved road in the Prithvi Highway (Pokhara-Kathmandu). The small town of Gorkha carries the most significant historical scars of Nepal. From the hilltop fortress of this town, the pillar figure of Shaha dynasty as well as of Modern Nepal, King Prithvi Narayan Shaha had commenced his ambitious project of unification of independent Nepal. He got success to assemble the little principalities of the then Nepal under a single flag. His aim got accomplished due to his farsighted vision and obedient and valiant soldiers. Magnificent Gorkha Durbar is the pride of Gorkha land which is a fort, a palace and a temple with excellent views of the surrounding valleys and the Manaslu range.
Manakamana
Manakamana is the name of a Hindu Goddess. It is believed that the Goddess fulfills the wishes of the People. The term ‘mana’ means the ‘heart’ or ‘soul’ and ‘kamana’ means the ‘wish’. This famous temple of Manakamana is in Gorkha district. It is said that a king of Gorkha was blessed by the goddess to get victory over small kingdoms and make a big Gorkha. Manakamana of Gorkha is a popular place for a specific fair called Panchami. The temple was initially complex to reach. One had either to walk for the long days or to ride on horseback for hours. Now it is easily accessible by Cable Car. The grandeur scenic beauty of surrounding area can be approached from the top most location of Manakamana.
Muktinath
The famous temple of Muktinath, dedicated to the lord Bishnu, lies in the Mustang district, 18 Kms. north east of Jameson. It is at the elevation of 3749m from the sea level. The temple is located on a high mountain range and can easily be accessed in the time of fair weather. There are two ways to get to Muktinath from Kathmandu, either by the direct flight from Kathmandu via Pokhara to Jomsom and hike for a couple of hours via Kagbeni or to trek all the way from Pokhara. Devotees generally flock in this holy precinct during the days of Janai Purnima, one of the greatest Hindu festivals.
Antu Danda
This place falls in Ilam district at an elevation of 1677m from the sea level. It is remarkable for its unique views of Mt. Everest and Kanchenjunga. This place provides the views to the Hills of Darjeeling; Kurseong and Mink. People often use to visit this place for the views of sunrise and sunset. A memorable graveled road runs only up to Chhipitar and from there the brisk walk of 4 to 5 hours is needed to approach this land.
Hile
This place is located about 13 Kms. North of Dhankuta Bazaar. It extends the panoramic view of the major peaks of the eastern Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and Kumbhakarna.
Janakpur
This place carries the religious significance as it is the birthplace of Sita, the consort of Lord Ram. The temple of Sita (Janaki), an artistic splendor, widely known as Naulakha Mandir is the central attraction of this holy precinct. Religious festivities, pilgrimages, trade fairs etc. take place on Bhairav Panchami and the days of Ram Navami. Kathmandu gets an access to this place via air and road means.
Gosainkunda
The Gosainkunda Lake, one of the most remarkable religious sites of Nepal belongs to the Rasuwa district. It is at the 4360m height from the sea level. Dhunche, 132 Kms. north east of Kathmandu is the best approach to Gosainkunda. The lake is grand and picturesque due to its surrounding setting of high Mountains on the north and the south. On the day of Janai Purnima, one of the Hindu festivals, the especial fair takes place, here. There are other nine famous lakes, Saraswati, Bhairav, Sourya and Ganesh Kunda etc. on its periphery.
Bandipur
It is a hilltop settlement, a picturesque town in Tanahu District of Nepal. It lies in the midway between the capital city Kathmandu and Pokhara. This place captivates its visitors with its cultural appeal and tranquil and virgin sceneries. The Newar community of its surrounding has maintained its age old culture, history and architecture. Palpa-Tansen
It is a small ancient hill town situated on the elevation of 4300m from sea level. It is located on the way from Pokhara to Lumbini. Ancient culture, excellent mountain views, serene atmosphere and affable locals are the major luring forces of this place. The stable weather of this place extends an easy access to visit it in any season. On the clear days one can eye over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, Gauri Shankar, the great Himalayas. Panchamul Sirubari
This village lies at the elevation of 1700m from the sea level. It is the first model village designed to promote village based tourism in Nepal. It is a nature bestowed place and one of the richest community of Gurungs in terms of cultural practices. It is a unique example of eco-cultural tourism in Nepal and is a new tourism product originated by local people. In May of 2001, this village in conjunction with Nepal Tourism Board was awarded the PATA Gold award in recognitions of its efforts to preserve the culture and heritage of Nepal.
Ghale Gaun
Located in the district of Lamjung, Ghale Gaon is approximately 205 Kms. Northwest of Kathmandu and 125 Kms. Northwest from Pokhara. It is at the height of 2016m from the sea level. It is an exotic pristine village gifted with an incomparable scenic grandeur and a home to Ghales (Gurungs), mid-hill people of western Nepal. Storehouse of a unique ethnic culture, Ghalegaun is a true microcosm of natural beauty blend with spotless ethnic lifestyle. Barahachhetra
This place lies in a few kilometers distance from the main town of Dharan, on the bank of River Koshi. Barahachhetra, the holy zone of Hindu Pilgrimage sits on the confluence of Sapta Koshi and Kokaha River. It is the temple of Lord Baraha, the boar incarnation of the Lord Vishnu.
