Banepa is a historical town on the way to Tibet, is terrific for mountain biking. If you want to avoid the traffic, there is an old route from Bhaktapur to Banepa that goes via Tathal and Nala. The ride is a gradual climb and offers excellent opportunities to see the terraced farmlands, farm houses and country life. From Banepa, you can take a side trip to Panauti (7km) or Dhulikhel
(6km).An interesting circuit is from Banepa to Dhulikhel to Namura (7 km) to Panauti (8 km) to Banepa. Drive back to Kathmandu.
