| Day 01: Flight to Paro.
Meet the guide at the airport and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:- Paro - Shana
Drive upto Drugyel Dzong where the road ends and the
trek begin, following the river gently uphill through
a narrowing agriculture valley. Initially you will pass
through the serene pastoral life of the villages with
their dogs and children playing in the fields. Camp
is just beyond an army post. Altitude 2800m, distance
17 km, about 5-6 hrs.
Day 03:- Shana - Soi Thangkha
Continue uphill through the river valley. It narrows
and closes in and the trail winds up and down along
the drianage. Camp out in the meadow with the starry
sky above you. Distance is about 21 km, 7-8 hrs.
Day 04:- Soi Thangkha - Jangothang
The trail climbs up the Pa Chu pass a small army post
where the valley begins to widen out. Views of high
ridge and snow-capped peaks are seen all around, and
close by are yaks and yak-herders camps. Lunch will
probably be served at one of these camps beneath a ruined
fortress, at the base of Chomolhari. Altitude 4040 m,
distance 19 km, about 5-6 hrs.
Day 05:- Jangothang - Lingshi
Open yak pastures on the way up and down the pass. Quite
possibly still some people in their yak tents depending
on the time of the year that you are there. Great views
of Lingshi Dzong as you come down into the Lingshi basin,
if the weather is clear and Tserim Kang and its descending
glaciers at the north end of the valley. Alt.4150 m.
Distance 19 km about 5-6 hrs.
Day 06:- Lingshi - Chebisa
An easy walk today- covering 19 km in about 5-6 hrs;
there will be time to stroll around the village houses
of Chebisa (altitude: 3850 m) before resting at camp.
Day 07:- Chebisa - Shomuthang
The hike today is through wild & high altitude pastures.
across Gobula pass at altitude of 4350 m; camping at
a bend overlooking the river- a tributary of the Mo
Chu that passes by Gasa Tsachu - hot springs, camp site
altitude is about 4260 m after covering a distance of
17 km in 6 hrs.
Day 08:- Shomuthang - Robluthang
Start off early today towards the Jarela Pass alt. 4600m,
crossing over to Tsharithang. It is possible to come
across herds of the unique Takin grazing on the slopes.
Distance covered is 15 km after about 5 hrs, campsite
is at altitude of 4400 m.
Day 09:- Robluthang - Lemithang
After crossing the Shingela Pass alt. 4900 m descend
and skirts the valley towards Lemithang-, which fallls
within Laya district. Notice the unique dress worn by
the Layaps- the high altitude cattle dependent, herderd.
Lemithang stands beneathe the Great Tiger Mountain-
Gangchenta. Depending on your time and interests- you
can explore around for a day in these mountains. Overnight
at camp alt 13567 ft. Distance covered is 19 km in 6-7
hrs.
Day 10:- Lemithang - Laya
All down hill hike today along the winding river valley.
Two paths lie before you- one leading to the army camp,
the other stays high and reaches west side of Laya village-
the path taken leads you to your camp site on a high
plateau at alt 12680 ft with a distance of 10km covered
in about 4 hrs.
Day 11:- Laya (Halt)
Spend this day relaxing and taking in the natural habitat
of the laya people, visit the unique houses and learn
of their unique ways of living. Depending on your interests,
there could be arrangements for song and dance performed
by the Laya folk by the campfire.
Day 12:- Laya - Roduphu
Climb steadily to Roduphu covering a distance of 19
km in about 6-7 hrs. Altitude 13,645 ft. or 4160 m.
Overnight in camo.
Day 13:- Roduphu - Narithang
Distance hiked today is about 17 km taking about 5-6
hrs, across the Tsimola pass at an altitude of 1342ft
or 4220m. Overnight in camp.
Day 14:- Narithang - Tarina
Distance to Tarina is about 18 km; take about 6-7 hrs,
across the Gangla karchung pass at an altitude of 16,720ft
or 5100m. Overnight in camp.
Day 15:- Tarina- Woche
Distance to Woche village is about 15 km taking about
5 hrs. On arrival you may visit the village. From here
the beautiful Lunana area begins. Overnight in camp.
Day 16:- Woche - Lhedi
Through the wide expanse cover a distance 19km taking
about 6-7 hrs. Cross Kachela pass at an altitude of
15,015ft or 4550m. Stop at Thega village en route. Overnight
in camp.
Day 17:- Lhedi - Thanza
Hike about 19 km in about 5-6 hrs. You are at Alt.1328ft/4050m.
En route, visit Chezo Dzong. Overnight in camp.
Day 18:- Thanza visit the village
of the Lunaps-
as they are known; you may mix and interact with the
people of Thanza or hike in and around the camp. Overnight
in camp.
Day 19:- Thanza - Tshochena
From Thanza to Tshochena is a distance of about 18km
taking about 6-7 hrs and an of about 15,744ft or 4800m.
Cross the Jazela pass at an altitude of 16,564ft or
5050m. Overnight in camp.
Day 20:- Tshochena - Jichu Dramo
Jichu Dramo is about 14 km and takes about 4-5 hrs.
Another pass at altitude of 16,203ft you will cross
the Tinchenzoe pass alt.16859/5140m.. Overnight in camp.
Day 21:- Jichu Dramo - Chukarpo
A relatively short distance of 15km takes about 3-6
hrs. At an altitude of 15km takes about 3-6 hrs. At
an altitude of 14,731ft you will cross the Rinchenzoe
pass alt.16,859ft/5140m. Overnight in camp.
Day 22:- Chukarpo - Tampetso
An interesting hike today covers a distance of about
20 km in about 7-8 hrs. Alt.13,895ft. Cross , Tampela
pass at alt.15015ft/5140m. Yo come across the Umtso
Lake on which Terton (treasure finder) Pemalingpa found
religious treasures. Overnight in camp.
Day 23:- Tampetso- Maorothan
Today the trek goes all the way down hill through he
Rhododendron bushes till you reach the camp. The camp
is near the Nikka Chu River. Overnight in camp. Alt.11844ft.
Distance covered is about 14 km in 5 hrs.
Day 24:- Maothang - Nikachu Chazam
A long hike today covering a distance of 23 km in about
6-7 hrs. Altitude decreases to 8692ft/2650m. Today is
your last day of walking. The trail passes through the
fields and villages of Sephu on to the road head at
Nikachu where you will be met by the pick- up transport.
Overnight in camp.
Day 25:- Nikachu - Thimphu
Early morning drive to Thimphu. Lunch at Wangdi town/guesthouse.
Day 26:- Thimpu-Paro.
